With a degree in Clinical Science from Louisiana State University and a career in microbiology, I developed a deep appreciation for research, evidence, quality control, and the biological principles that influence health and wellness. My years in the laboratory taught me to think critically, evaluate carefully, and understand the importance of safety, stability, efficacy, and thoughtful formulation. My passion for herbalism and natural healing led me to further my knowledge and education in plant medicine. These disciplines came together to form the foundation of Simple Alchemy Apothecary: the intersection of science, herbalism, and craftsmanship.

I don't believe that natural automatically means better, nor that modern science and traditional herbalism are competing philosophies. I believe they are most powerful when they work together.

Plants are chemistry. Herbal medicine is biochemistry. Skincare is biology. The natural world operates according to scientific principles whether we understand them or not. Science gives us the tools to study, evaluate, and refine what generations of herbalists have learned through observation and experience. That perspective guides every formulation I create.Our products begin with botanicals, herbal extracts, hydrosols, plant oils, traditional herbal preparations, and thoughtfully selected naturally derived ingredients. I formulate with intention, choosing ingredients for what they actually contribute to the finished product. Every tincture, serum, cream, balm, oil, and botanical preparation is guided by science, inspired by nature, and crafted with respect for both traditional herbal wisdom and modern formulation science. I have been creating herbal remedies for family and friends for many years, but I eventually decided to pursue a formal herbal education so I could deepen my understanding of herbal medicine and create the most thoughtful, effective botanical formulas possible.

This led me to The Herbal Academy, where I completed an intensive Herbal Formulation Diploma program. Through this in-depth study, I gained a deeper understanding of herbal energetics, formulation principles, extraction methods, and the art of combining herbs to maximize their synergy and effectiveness. The program helped me refine my ability to create balanced, purposeful formulas that honor both traditional herbal wisdom and modern herbal practice.

At the same time, I completed a certification in Natural Holistic Medicine through the Hyamson Institute, further expanding my understanding of natural approaches to health and wellness.

My passion for plants eventually led me into the world of natural skincare. After extensive research, I enrolled in the renowned Formula Botanica Sschool of skincare science and pursued my Diploma in Natural Skincare Formulation, where I learned the science and artistry of creating stable, effective, and luxurious botanical skincare products. The experience provided invaluable formulation skills and deepened my appreciation for the intersection of nature and science in skincare.

Because herbalism is both a science and a lifelong practice, my education continues well beyond formal programs. I regularly participate in continuing education courses, workshops, and advanced trainings, allowing me to learn from a diverse community of herbalists and stay current with both traditional knowledge and emerging research.

I believe that the study of plants is a lifelong journey, and I remain committed to continually deepening my understanding of herbal medicine, natural skincare, and formulation science so I can create the highest quality products for those who trust Simple Alchemy Apothecary.
